Healthcare Background
Sight and eye related issues are among the most common health problems that adults face as they increase in age. Symptoms of age-related issues usually develop between the ages of 41-60. Approximately 1 in 3 people have some form of vision-reducing eye disease by the age of 65. This is not an issue that people have to face alone.
The Havener Eye Institute at the Ohio State Dublin Outpatient Care Center treats patients with cornea, refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, and retina care. Their services include the latest eye examination technologies, surgeries, and diagnostic techniques.

Experience Statement
One of the most important emotions that people should feel when they enter a medical facility is ease.
When people who have eye impairments enter this space, they will experience adequate accommodations to make them feel just as comfortable as other patients. The space gives patients and visitors the freedom to seek privacy at a time that can be overwhelming and anxiety-inducing. The waiting room in the ophthalmology center provides opportunities for different kinds of sensory distraction that enable users with differing sight abilities to to feel more peace and relaxation while waiting for medical appointments.
Persona
Physical
Sarah's biggest challenge as she gets older is her joints. She has received minimal treatment for her joints in the past. She is also beginning to see signs of family-related macular degeneration which adds to her health anxieties. Her next treatment option is injections in her eyes.
Mental
Sarah enjoys staying busy at parties with her family and friends, work, and other creative hobbies, but her memory and cognition aren't what they used to be. Stress and anxiety are issues that tend to rise when she overloads her schedule and worries about her health issues.
Social
Sarah enjoys her alone time, but she is an extrovert at heart. She loves to host dinner parties to fill the new emptiness of her home. Her love of reading has also led her to join a book club with other people at her church.
